THE DEVENS ... WE HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN!

We are hitting the reset button and marking down Friday, February 4th as our next Jeans Day fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit the Devens School, which recently saw a Jeans Day canceled for the one and only acceptable reason — a snow day! Please make your $5 contribution to your building’s administrative assistant. All final donations should be sent to Principal Brian Wallace at the Devens.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR EPS STAFF

CTE ACCESSIBILITY CURRICULUM TEAM FACILITATOR

The EPS is seeking CTE Accessibility Curriculum Team Facilitators to create and deliver synchronous and asynchronous professional learning experiences related to accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and cultural competency.

The CTE Accessibility Curriculum Team will consist of four CTE and four EL teachers. Facilitators will work with teachers to revise the current CTE curriculum maps to include equitable and culturally responsive practices to strengthen the learning experience for English Learners. Participants will also build cultural competency and accessibility strategies through professional development and collaboration.

K-8 STEM CURRICULUM SURVEYS

The STEM Department wants your thoughts and ideas about our current math and science curriculum. Please complete the surveys for any of the curriculum you have access to, even if you don’t necessarily use that curriculum. This will help us get a better understanding of what people like and dislike about each curriculum, and provides us with data when reviewing and vetting/selecting a new curriculum.

Many of our curricula have been in place for more than five years, and we will be conducting a curriculum review.  We want to empower all educators to help make these huge curriculum decisions. These surveys are for all educators, including co-teachers and interventionists!

Science Surveys
Grades K-3: Mystery Science
Grades 4-7: STEMscopes
Grade 8: 8th Grade Science

Math Surveys
Grades K-5: Everyday Math
Grades K-6: Tang Math
Grades 6-8: Big Ideas Math

CLIMBING TOWARD CERTIFICATION

We are pleased to share some exciting news about Mount Holyoke College’s graduate teacher licensure program. Courses are now being offered online and in-person, making the program more accessible to teachers seeking professional development or licensure.

Mt. Holyoke is also  expanding its Emerging Teacher Scholarship, which provides up to a $10,000 tuition discount to candidates holding an Emergency License when they begin our initial teacher licensure program. The scholarship will also be available to other teachers on waivers and paraprofessionals  interested in pursuing their initial license.

Mt. Holyoke College offers 25 licenses. Its program is designed to support paraprofessionals and teachers in full-time employment with classes in the evenings and during the summer months.

TRACK TEAM FUNDRAISER

The Everett High School track team is holding a virtual fundraiser in collaboration with the gourmet popcorn company, Double Good. It’s 100% contactless, and the Crimson Tide will  keep 50% of the profits. Products ship directly to the buyer. The fundraising window is open from January 31, 2022, to February 4, 2022.

FIXING THE LINK

At the risk of sounding incredibly sarcastic and hopelessly obvious, there are times when Everett, Massachusetts is confused with our imposter/sister city in Washington. Inexplicably, search engines do not automatically direct people to the only Everett that matters.

One area of cyberspace where we have heard there is some confusion is on Linkedin. We are trying to increase our presence on Linkedin and encourage you to follow us. This link provided above will take you directly to the EPS page.
