OPPORTUNITIES FOR EPS STAFF
RECOVERY EFFORT
We are seeking educators to staff the Everett High School Academic Recovery Academy, a credit recovery program that provides students with an opportunity to complete content related coursework and receive credit towards a quarter 1 or quarter 2 grade. We are seeking teachers to support students virtually over the Christmas break — December 28th through December 30th — by tutoring or coaching them through their effort to complete their assigned lessons. WHO’S THE 1 FOR DAY 6?
The EPS is seeking a Coordinator for our Day 6 Saturday program, which aims to re-engage students who have dropped out of Everett High School. This is a 24-day program held over the course of 24 Saturdays. The goal is to expand our re-engagement efforts by transforming EHS into a Saturday Center for students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out. The EPS Curriculum Team has developed a Guide for Educators and Administrators with Professional Licensure and PDPs for Renewal. This helpful document contains all the information you need about professional licensure renewal and tracking Professional Development Points. We have also developed a PDP Request Form that you can quickly and easily fill out and submit after you have completed a PDP eligible project to receive PDPs.

BOOK SMARTS
EPS Library Director Mary Puleo is forming a focus group to participate in activities and discussions to identify areas of strength and opportunity within our community. The data and information collected from these sessions will be used to develop goals for the EPS as we explore bringing back libraries to all of our schools. You do not need to be a library user to join the group. Any and all EPS staff members are encouraged to join the effort. The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, January 11, 2022 and Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sign up HERE.
SOCIAL (STUDIES) CALL
The EPS seeks Grade 3, 4 and 5 Classroom Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Interventionists and/ or ESL Teachers to create a revamped curriculum and resource guide for Social Studies for grades 3-5. The primary objective of the curriculum development project will be to find high quality, accurate multimedia resources that align with Massachusetts Social Studies standards, are culturally responsive and free from bias. PLATFORM VIEWS
We have created a quick survey to gather information about which curricula and learning platforms EPS teachers are utilizing, and to determine which ones will be the most beneficial in the future. While we will try to honor all requests, all purchases are contingent upon funding. As always, your feedback is critical.
TUTORING SUPPORT
The EPS has paid opportunities at our K-8 schools to supervise 30-40 students in grades 6-8 while they receive virtual tutoring from one-on-one tutors via the FEV Tutor Clever Application. Complete details, including stipend, can be found HERE.
A COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS
The Department of English Learners has an opportunity for educators to plan and deliver a professional learning community centered around the selected text, “Co-Teaching for English Learners,” by M. Dove and A. Honigsfeld, which provides professional insight into best practices for heterogeneous elementary and middle school classrooms with English Learners and students. HOLIDAY HOPE
The Madeline English School recently held the 8th annual toy drive to benefit Portal to Hope. Pictured above, from left, are Victim Advocates Jen Battelle and Marni Gallagher, toy drive organizer MaryBeth Benedetto, and Portal to Hope founder Deb Fallon. This year, enough toys were collected for Portal to Hope to help nine families and 17 children. Portal To Hope is a non-profit organization that helps victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking crimes.
FUNDRAISER FOR THE DEVENS SCHOOL!
The Devens School needs our help. Dr. Brian Wallace and his staff are looking to raise money for its school store, so we are going to double down on Jeans Days fundraisers. Please make your $5 contribution to your building’s Administrative Assistant on Thursday, December 23rd and/or Friday, January 7th. All final donations should be forward to the Devens School team.
