FROM THE EPS EQUITY OFFICE

Chief Equity Officer Cory McCarthy has curated a collection of helpful and varied resources that are sure to be relevant and useful to all EPS faculty and staff. Mr. McCarthy will update the “Equity Memo” on a regular basis. Our inaugural volume can be found HERE.

REMINDER: JEANS DAY

The EPS will hold a district-wide Jeans Day on Friday, September 10. Please give your $5 donation to your school’s administrative assistant to help us support the Everett Haitian Community Center in its ongoing efforts to support the victims and families of the August 14th earthquake in Haiti.

GLEAM DREAM

The EPS is seeking members to join its GLEAM Leadership Team. GLEAM stands for Growing Literacy Equity Across Massachusetts, and the educators who join this team will help develop and implement a multi-tiered system of ELA and Literacy curriculum and supports. Complete details about this opportunity, including its stipend and responsibilities, are found in the link above.

LAUNCH PERIOD

LearnLaunch, with support from DESE, is offering a variety of free workshops for Massachusetts educators, including the following two workshops in September:

A MOMENT OF REFLECTION

EPS school leaders are encouraged to participate in a school-based moment of silence on Friday, September 10th at 8:46 am in recognition of the 20th anniversary of September 11.

This moment of peaceful reflection will  honor those we lost on September 11th, as well as Massachusetts Fallen Military Heroes, and the 13 American troops lost last month in Afghanistan. This act of unity by school children across the state will serve as a reminder of our strength as a community and Commonwealth.

This Massachusetts statewide initiative is being led by Project 351.
