From the Special Education Department

SPECIAL EDUCATION ESY OPPORTUNITIES
Everett Public Schools is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Special Education staff to teach an in-person Special Education Extended School Year Program to our students. This program aims to provide academic support to address learning loss and promote maintenance of skills according to the goals and benchmarks of each students’ Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Opportunities for Staff

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID
The district's SELWELL Team will offer Mental Health First Aid training on Saturday, May 21st, in partnership with the Cambridge Health Alliance. The course will help EPS staff members learn to identify and respond to the mental-health needs of our students.

MAKE TIME TO MAKE SPACE
​​In an effort to localize and provide access to multiple robotics and engineering classes, the EPS is creating a working group to collect and set-up the 3D and laser printers in the science department.  Creation of this space will eliminate the need for repeat purchases of equipment to support the growing needs of the Robotics and Engineering classes.  This working group will also be responsible for equipment maintenance throughout the school year

SCREENING DAYS
The EPS is forming Screening Teams to administer assessments for incoming Kindergarten through Grade 3 students in advance of the 2022-2023 school year. The team will consist of math and literacy interventionists and elementary teachers who are proficient in administering screening assessments.  Each school’s screening team will consult with the building Principal to determine required assessments for the screening days, which may include DIBELs, PELI, Pre-Las, W-APT and Acadience Math assessments.

HEALTH CURRICULUM REVIEW AND DEVELOPMENT
The EPS is forming a working group to review existing, and create new, health curriculum maps for the 2022-2023 school year. Participants will propose and implement changes to existing Health Department maps, create new materials for lesson sharing, and meet with the Health and Wellness Coordinator to discuss progress and to analyze data.

Everett Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, talented yoga Instructor to work with EPS staff after school to help support their physical fitness and mindfulness.  This program will be open to all staff.

THE EPS COMMUNITY!

BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED FOR MAY 10th

Everett High School is planning to host a blood drive on Tuesday, May 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. Student-interns enrolled in the EHS Science Pathway will help coordinate the drive in partnership with the American Red Cross (ARC). In addition to typical (and greatly appreciated) donations, the ARC is searching for Power Red donors, who must meet specific requirements.
