NOVEMBER 2 PD UPDATE

For the first time, the Everett Public Schools will participate in the 5DP Shared Professional Development Day on Tuesday, November 2nd. All of the 5DP sessions are virtual, and teachers and staff can participate in their respective sessions remotely from home.

At the district level, we will hold in-person meetings on the EPS Strategy for District Improvement. Administrators and educators who are a part of this effort will be contacted next week with details.

SEEING DOUBLE!

This week is Spirit Week at Everett High School, and Tuesday was Twins Day. Above are Brendan McHugh and Chelsea McNiff, and Sandy Nilson and Marissa McQueeney, four of the many teachers and students who joined in on the fun.

A GRAND SUCCESS (LITERALLY)

A quick shoutout to Lafayette School teacher Hannah Weiger and EPS staff for the successful district-wide fundraiser for Progeria Research that was held earlier this month. Thanks to your generosity, Ms. Weigert was able to present $1,020 to the Progeria Research Foundation.

OPPORTUNITIES

EMPOW UPDATE

The Everett Public Schools is seeking teachers, paraprofessionals, administrative assistants, and/or staff members to help us expand our partnership with Empow Studios, a provider of award-winning STEM programs. Specifically, we are launching virtual afterschool offerings for students across all grade levels at Everett High and the Madeline English, Parlin, and Keverian schools. (Note: We are offering the program at the Maddy, not the Webster, which is a change from what we shared in our post last week.)

Staff members will work with Empow instructors and small cohorts of students enrolled in virtual STEM programs. Click HERE for details about the position, stipend, hours, and responsibilities.

A SOCIAL CALL

The district needs Grade 3, 4 and 5 classroom teachers, special education teachers, interventionists and/or ESL Teachers, to join a curriculum development effort aimed at identifying and implementing high quality, culturally responsive, and accurate multimedia resources that align with Massachusetts Social Studies standards. Click HERE for details about the position, stipend, hours, and responsibilities.

WEEKEND PLANS

We hope to see all of you at tonight’s Homecoming game and/or tomorrow’s Fall Fest. Tonight’s festivities, which are for our high school students, will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. inside Everett Stadium — prior to the 6:00 p.m. kickoff vs. Medford. Tomorrow’s district-wide Fall Fest will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. at Everett High. All staff are welcome to join us for food, fun, games, giveaways and more tonight and tomorrow!

BRANDON CONDE 5K WALK AND RUN

A final reminder that the first-ever Brandon Conde 5K road race and walk is set for Sunday, October 24 at 10 a.m. at Glendale Park. Brandon is a lifelong Everett resident, a product of the EPS, and a former Crimson Tide football player. He suffered a life-altering injury in July of 2019 that has left him a tetraplegic. All race proceeds will benefit Brandon and his continued recovery efforts. The registration fee is $35 for adults, $10 for students.

Register quickly and easily via RaceWire.

And, please email us any photos you have from Wear Red for Brandon Day!
