Update from the City

New Payroll Vendor

This week marks the final pay cycle that will be processed through the city’s current vendor, Harpers/Millennium. Going forward, all payroll information will be transmitted through our new vendor software, Munis. The Treasurer’s Office will now coordinate the payroll process in-house.

The first payroll check for the new system will begin on Thursday, April 6, 2023, or the week after if you are paid biweekly.  The new Munis check/stub form will have a different design than Harpers/Millennium, although the same information will be included. When you receive the new check/stub, please confirm that it is accurate and up to date.

K-8 Summer Guidance Counselors will support the Office of Extended Learning by providing individual and group counseling services to students in one of four K-8 EPS campuses.

The Summer Adventure Academy is a re-imagining of the summer school model. It aims to re-engage students who may have struggled academically, socially, emotionally, or otherwise during the school year by providing them with hands-on, project based, student centered academic and enrichment opportunities. Green Streets Initiative

The City of Everett Planning Department is collaborating with Green Streets Initiative (GSI) to learn more about how faculty and staff commute to school, and what they think of their commutes when using any of these modes! Organizers are planning a 20-30 minute Zoom conversation with those who want to share their experiences and suggestions for making their commute safer and more convenient. Organizers have asked us to share the following letters with staff who are planning to, or interested in, participating.

Student Transportation Survey and Invitation to Video Conversation

Hello,
My name is Shannon Sullivan, and I work with Green Streets Initiative (GSI), a local nonprofit organization that seeks to promote safer and better active and sustainable transportation. We are working with the City of Everett Planning Department on a project called What Moves Everett Schools. The project seeks to understand the ways in which students, faculty, and staff travel to and from school, challenges they face, and improvements they would like.

There are two aspects to this project for which we will need your help:

  1. Survey: On Tuesday, April 4th (Rain Date: Wednesday, April 5th), we are asking classroom teachers to administer a 4-question survey about the ways in which students traveled to school and how they plan to leave school that day. Teachers will read the questions from a Google form, students will raise their hands in response, and teachers will record on the Google form the number of hands raised for each question. We hope to have all students in the district participate.
  2. If there are absent students, you may re-submit the form with their responses when they return. If infeasible, all absent student responses are not necessary. I will send out links to the surveys by April 3rd, and the survey will close on Tuesday, April 11th at 5 PM.
  3. Conversations: We are inviting students, faculty, and staff who currently travel to school on foot, by bike, bus, train, scooter, skateboard, rollerblade, carpool, wheelchair, or any combination of these to sign up to have a Zoom conversation with us about their commute. These sessions will take 20-30 minutes and will take place after-school. We will be raffling off a $50 Target gift card for those who sign up to participate in these Zoom conversations.
Sign up for the conversations using these links:

For more information about the project, visit this webpage. Feel free to share this link with students and families! (All information and materials will be translated into Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole).

Thank you for all of your help in this effort to make Everett a safer community for all road users, including those traveling to and from school!

It will be administered in homeroom or in another class period that all students attend, at the Principal’s discretion. Students will fill out the Google form survey themselves, which should take just 3 to 5 minutes to complete.
  2. If students are absent on April 4th or 5th, they can fill out the form from home or in school when they return. If infeasible, all absent student responses are not necessary. I will send out links to the surveys by April 3rd, and the survey will close on Tuesday, April 11th at 5 PM.

Transition to New Phone & Speaker System
Everett Public Schools is pleased to announce that we have made the strategic decision to move away from our existing phone system to Zoom Phone. In an effort to provide enhanced communication district wide, we are transitioning to one comprehensive system.

This will improve our ability to host conference calls with families with a recognizable school phone number, ensuring that all classrooms and school spaces have a new phone that traces their physical location to enhance 911 safety measures as well as preserving additional functionalities for future use.

We are sure that the upgraded communication system will completely transform the way you communicate today!

Please note that we are working diligently with our providers to ensure that the Cutover Day is seamless; however, once the system is fully transitioned, old voicemails cannot be carried over.  Please begin to review your voicemail and take note of any important voicemail messages.

We will provide additional communication regarding updates and the scheduled migration date for your school, but please contact your school leader in the meantime.
