In the spirit of community building and holiday cheer, Cari DiCicco held the first annual Art Department holiday celebration at Lucky Strike! Faculty from throughout the district gathered to reflect on the year and engage in a little friendly competition over racing games, air hockey, and skee ball.

Congratulations to the Athletic Department and all of our fall coaches for hosting a fantastic Fall Sports Banquet for our students and families on Tuesday, December 6th at Anthony’s of Malden. Athletes were presented with varsity letters, seniors received their posters, and every head coach spoke about the recently concluded fall seasons. A great night for the Crimson Tide! WE CAN VOUCH FOR YOU
Are you planning on taking the Communications and Literacy Skills MTEL test? If so, the EPS has a limited number of MTEL test vouchers for these two exams. If you plan to register for an upcoming test, please email Director of Remote Learning and Instruction Anne Auger as soon as possible. You have to register for a test by March 22, 2023 to use the voucher, even if your actual test date is later in 2023.

FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
New Literary Project is now taking applications for the second round of annual Jack Hazard Summer Fellowships. The 2023 Fellowships of $5,000 each are awarded to creative writers who are full-time high school educators. The application deadline is January 4, 2023, with the winners to be announced in March.  

  • Jack Hazard Fellows must be writers of fiction, creative nonfiction, or memoir.
  • They commit to concentrating upon their creative writing during Summer 2023.
  • They must be full-time, current instructors (in any department, not just English) in an accredited high school (grades 9–12, teaching in the 2022–23 academic year).
  • They must be contracted to return to full-time teaching in Fall 2023.
  • Applicants must submit a writing sample along with other related support material requested.
  • Consult the website for details and procedures.

EPL WINTER READING CHALLENGE

Learn about the history of emojis, explore the importance of emotions, and discover fun activities to express yourself fully —all while earning badges on a virtual bingo card! Throughout January, the Everett Public Libraries (EPL) are participating in “All the Feels,” a winter reading challenge sponsored by Beanstack.

The EPL challenges our community to read and log at least 120 minutes during the challenge. Earn fun emoji-themed badges for logging your reading, completing activities, submitting book reviews, and filling out your bingo card.
Register for the challenge on Beanstack to get a free book from the library. Win a prize by completing five challenges in a row/diagonally on the virtual bingo card!

REMINDER: SELF-CARE CLASSES

As we highlighted in the December 6th newsletter, EPS staff members Mike Botte and Alana Russell are offering free self-care sessions beginning in January of 2023. Ms. Russell is teaching a yoga class, while Mr. Botte is running a group fitness and training course. Sessions are open to all staff, regardless of your experience level. Contact Mr. Botte and Ms. Russell directly to sign up. Classes will be held on Wednesdays, after school, at the Keverian. Click HERE for all the details.
