The 2022-23 Principal and Teacher Advisory Cabinet continues to seek applications and nominations for para-educators and school leaders, including principals, assistant principals, deans, and instructional coaches. The Department convenes the cabinet to recognize excellent educators, elevate educator voices, and provide opportunities for leadership.

In the coming school year, cabinet members will serve as advisors for revisions to the educator preparation program formal review process. The revisions will focus on building a foundation of anti-racist, culturally responsive practice and deepening instruction and expectations. Cabinet members will earn professional development points (PDPs) and potentially stipends, pending funding. Nominations are due on Monday, August 29, and applications are due on Tuesday, September 6. Please email [email protected] with questions.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS WAIVER

Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness waiver, the U.S. Education Department is making it possible for many full-time public servants, including school district employees, to qualify for total federal student loan forgiveness or be closer to loan forgiveness. However, the opportunity only exists through October 31. Borrowers will have to consolidate their non-Direct Federal student loans into the Direct Loan program and submit a Public Service Loan Forgiveness form to certify their employment before the deadline. More information is available HERE.
