Connecting with Our Students
Congratulations to the Whittier and the Madeline English First Lego League teams that competed against 72 teams from around the Commonwealth in the 2022 State Championship, held December 17th at WPI. The students had a great experience showcasing their robotics skills and visiting a college campus. The Madeline English team, coached by Bruce Jaffe and Jennifer Cavaleiri, earned an award for demonstrating its core values! Congratulations to all of our FLL students and faculty coaches!

Great Hope for the Season
MaryBeth Benedetto and her colleagues at the Madeline English School renewed an annual tradition this month by collecting dozens of new toys for the organization Portal to Hope. As usual, the toy drive was a major success which will directly benefit local families over the holidays. Portal To Hope is a non-profit organization committed to helping victims of domestic violence.

Free Self-Care Sessions for Staff, By Staff!
The EPS Social-Emotional Learning team will launch two self-care sessions in January, both of which are free and have been developed by our educators. These are not professional development courses, but rather opportunities for you to engage in fun wellness activities with your EPS colleagues.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR PARAPROFESSIONALS
JET offers a two-part pathway that allows paraprofessionals to earn a Bachelor’s degree and a Massachusetts teacher license, all at a very affordable cost. The organization is focused on assisting urban districts like ours. JET supports the goals of building community teacher pipelines and developing an educator workforce that reflects the racial, cultural and linguistic diversity of students.
The support model includes financial aid and college admission guidance as well as one-on-one mentoring from veteran educators.

ESL TEACHING OPPORTUNITY
English and Spanish Literacy Classes for Parents/Guardians
The district is offering five cohorts of classes for parents and guardians of EPS students, and we are seeking enthusiastic teachers to facilitate meaningful learning experiences for our community.
The aim is to have four cohorts teaching English literacy courses and one cohort teaching a Spanish Literacy/ ESL Reading and Writing course. Sessions will run from February to May of 2023.

The ESL Department is seeking one curriculum development facilitator and a group of participants to lead a revision process of National Geographic Inside Curriculum for grades 6-8.

TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION LEADERS
The Everett Public Schools has been awarded a grant called “Building Capacity for High Quality Instruction through EdTech.” With this funding, we have created six paid opportunities for interested educators who will be compensated to receive a series of intense, focused, and interactive professional development on technology integration and train-the-trainers professional development, and andragogy. The TILs will meet with school Principals to discuss how technology integration can support their school’s individual school improvement plan.The TILs will receive credentials to conduct train-the-trainer professional development on technology platforms, and they will provide training during the district’ first-year teacher orientation and induction sessions.

EHS is seeking educators to join the Data Team to help review the ExactPath and IXL formative assessment structures, collect and review relevant research on math, literacy and science formative assessments, and develop and implement a data-driven action plan for the high school.Click HERE for complete details.
FREE SEI ENDORSEMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR BIPOC EDUCATORS
As part of the funding the district has received through the Teacher Diversification Grant, BIPOC educators can take advantage of the chance to receive an SEI Endorsement via a free course offered by MATSOL.The SEI Endorsement is a state requirement for educators to complete within one year of their start date. If you are licensed in teaching ESL or working on your ESL license, you do not need the SEI endorsement.
The course is made up of 12 online classes from 4 to 7 p.m., plus 8 online independent modules. Participants can choose from Tuesday or Wednesday sessions.
