Street Sweeping

Everett’s street sweeping season began on April 1st. The City has employed an incremental enforcement system, which includes placing flyers on vehicles, issuing written warnings, followed by two weeks of ticketing and fines for failing to remove vehicles as required. Towing begins on Monday, May 1st. All EPS staff members, please pay attention to signs if and when you park on Everett streets.

JEANS DAY FUNDRAISER

We will hold a Jeans Day Fundraiser on Friday, May 5th to benefit an EPS family that can really use our full support. Please make your $5 contribution to your building’s Administrative Assistant, and all final collections should be forwarded to Siobhan Sullivan at Everett High School. Thanks in advance!=

For K to 8 Teachers

As part of its efforts to provide teachers and interventionists the tools they need to fully maximize WIN Blocks, the Intervention Success Team has developed a survey for K-8 teachers. Please take the time to give us your feedback on thoughts on WIN Blocks and what steps can be taken to improve them.

Opportunities for Staff

 

INSTRUCTIONAL COACH

The EPS is seeking Instructional Coaches to support general education teachers, special education teachers, ESL teachers, and content-specific teachers in grades K-5, 6-8, and/or 9-12 teachers.  The Instructional Coaches will strengthen core, Tier 1 instruction so it meets the needs of diverse learners.  The Instructional Coaches will work with several schools throughout the year with differentiated coaching plans based on data and implementation cycles of high quality instructional materials.

TEACHER MENTORS

The district is seeking mentors to help teachers who are pursuing professional teacher status while working in Everett Public Schools. Teacher Mentors provide guidance and coaching to EPS employees, from the new orientation process through final licensure. They  are responsible for training assigned mentees in instructional strategies, curricula and operational processes necessary to perform their job responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

SALEM STATE UNIVERSITY DISTRICT LIAISON

Salem State University is seeing an EPS staff member o serve as a McKeown Liaison. The liaison will provide direct support to colleagues who are enrolled in SSU degree and licensure programs. In addition, liaisons will serve as a connecting function between and among the McKeown School, the district central office, school building leadership, and the candidates themselves.

CURRICULUM CLEAN OUT ORGANIZERS 

The EPS is seeking to hire Curriculum Clean Out Organizer positions during the summer break to help support our schools by cleaning out areas that can be used for learning and collaboration. The process will include an assessment of material and the recycling and/or disposal of outdated materials.

SUMMER GLEAM TEAM

The EPS is forming a Summer GLEAM team to help review and revise the Amplify/ELA Pacing Calendars for the 2023-2024 school year. The team will meet with the K-8 Director of ELA to review feedback from teachers on the current pacing calendars and develop an updated calendar.

SUMMER ADVENTURE ACADEMY SUBSTITUTE OPENINGS
The EPS is seeking 1 building substitute per school who will work every day of the Summer Adventure Academy in support of any classrooms where a teacher has called out. The right candidate is positive, flexible, and communicative and ready to step in wherever necessary - whether it means covering a gym class, helping out with 8th grade math, or reading to a Kindergarten classroom. You will also support front door monitoring after school secretaries leave for the day.

Professional Advancement

 

18 CREDIT CERTIFICATE:  EDUCATION FOR EQUITY AND DEMOCRACY 

The Boston University/Wheelock partnership is offering an online program beginning in the fall of 2023 for EPS educators interested in obtaining an Education for Equity and Democracy Certificate. A total of 15 slots are available to EPS teachers, so please respond as soon as possible.

JET MENTORS

One of the several mentorship opportunities that we will be providing for next year is through our partnership with JET.  JET is seeking qualified, committed candidates to serve as Mentors for its Mentor Program. Mentors support, document and enhance the academic and professional learning journey of participants in the JET program. JET, which stands for Journey Into Education & Teaching, helps launch paraprofessionals into teaching careers.

15 CREDIT CERTIFICATE:  PATHWAY TO MODERATE DISABILITY LICENSURE

The EPS is proud to partner with Endicott College for educators who are interested in pursuing a pathway to moderate disability licensure. The coursework, which is 100 percent online, begins in May and totals 15 credits.

CAGS: SALEM STATE EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

EPS educators interested in earning their Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) can take advantage of the district’s partnership with Salem State University. Enroll in the University’s Educational Leadership program for the greatly-reduced cost of $8,590. Sign up now for coursework beginning in September of 2023.

MERRIMACK COLLEGE PATHWAY TO ESL LICENSURE

The EPS is proud to offer a partnership with Merrimack College for staff interested in pursuing a pathway to ESL Licensure. The coursework is 100 percent online and begins this summer. The 16-credit program includes a four-part MTEL prep series and a test voucher.
