Everett Alternative High School
Openings for Adjunct Teaching Positions
The EPS is seeking educators to fill teaching positions in the Everett Alternative High School, which serves overaged, under-credited high school students. Classes will be held 1-2 times per week, between the hours of 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., at the Devens School. This opportunity is open to current Everett High School and EPS teachers.
Teachers are responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. They will work collaboratively with EHS Department Heads, the Re-Engagement Specialist, and the Alternative School Dean to continually improve the experience and performance of our students. Educators must be flexible and willing to meet the scheduling needs of students within the night school schedule.

SALT … Sweet!
EPS Receives Grant for Middle School Programming at the Lafayette
The EPS is thrilled to announce that it has received a significant state grant to implement year-round after-school and summer programming for Lafayette School 5-8 graders. The district was awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center’s SALT Grant in the amount of $180,000. SALT stands for Supporting Additional Learning Time. It will be immensely helpful in the district’s efforts to create Out of School Time (OST) opportunities for middle school students.
In developing the program at the Lafayette, we are hiring one Site Coordinator and four Lead Teachers. The Site Coordinator will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the after school program. This includes hiring and training staff, supervising student leaders, organizing field trips and events, creating program policies and systems, providing accurate data for reporting purposes, managing supplies and materials, communicating with community partners, and ensuring positive participation and regular attendance of all program participants.
Lead Teachers will be responsible for the daily operations of the after school program, developing and leading enrichment activities, supporting with homework, and ensuring students actively and positively participate in all program components.

The Heart of Our Robotics Program
Leaders Needed for Grades 6-8 and EHS
The EPS is once again offering robotics programs, one for students in grades 6-8 and one at Everett High School. We are looking for multiple educators to work with K-8 STEM Director Rupi Kaur in leading after-school robotics teams that will compete in the FIRST© LEGO© League (FLL) and the FIRST© Tech Challenge (FTC).
The FLL, which is for students in grades 6-8, introduces students to the excitement of science and technology, while building self-confidence and valuable life skills. Participants will design, build and program a LEGO© SPIKE PRIME robot to solve a particular STEM challenge in preparation for the MA FLL competition in December.
The Everett High team will compete in the FTC, which challenges students to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. . The robot kit is reusable from year to year and can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming. Teams design and build robots, raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach to earn specific awards.

GLEAM Opportunities
Elementary and Middle School Leadership Teams
The district continues to participate in DESE’s Growing Literacy Equity Across Massachusetts (GLEAM) grant program. This is a joint effort with the non-profit organization TNTP, one designed to evaluate, pilot, and select new curriculum materials to better meet the diverse needs of our students.
In preparing for the 2023-2024 school year, we are creating two leadership teams, one each at the Elementary and Middle School levels.
