How to Best Utilize Pear Deck and Pear Deck Premium
STACKING THE DECK
If you love NewsELA and Pear Deck, then you are in luck! In collaboration with Pear Deck, NewsELA now creates daily, pre-made “decks” (or lessons), based on some of their favorite articles, which you can use with a click of a button. Click HERE for access to these decks, instructions on how to use them, and instructions on sign-ups to receive the Daily Deck directly to your email.
FLASH MODE
Looking for a new way to engage students with key vocabulary? Try out Pear Deck’s Flashcard Factory! This engaging platform lets you provide your students with a list of vocabulary words, and then have them work together to create flashcards for each of the words. In pairs, students create example sentences and illustrations for each flashcard, and once they have all finished, you or the class can decide who created the best flashcard for each word. The best flashcards are then collated into a list that can either be printed Quizlet style OR exported to use with Gimkit! To learn more about how to use Flashcard Factory, click HERE.
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE
If you want to set a time limit on some of your Pear Deck questions, use Pear Deck’s timer and automatic screen-locking features! Now you can set a timer for each slide and Pear Deck will automatically lock in your student responses once the time is up. To learn how, click HERE.
