ACCESS For ELs

Each January, all English Learners in grades K-12 take an English Language proficiency test called ACCESS. The ACCESS test includes reading, writing, speaking and listening prompts.  Everett Public Schools uses these scores to determine English Learners’ levels each year.  We strive for ELs to grow one or more levels per year.  Here is a sample ACCESS score report parents/guardians receive each Spring.  For more information about your child’s ACCESS scores, please contact your child’s teacher or Anne Auger at aauger@everett.k12.ma.us

Your child’s teacher will be able to tell you the specific date and time of your child’s ACCESS testing for January 2021 in the Fall.

In order to be exited from English Learner (EL) status, Massachusetts requires that students score a 4.2 overall score AND a 3.9 literacy score on the ACCESS test.
