A Message from the Superintendent
Join Us For Homecoming!

Homecoming starts at … home! As we gear up for this year’s festivities, I want to extend a personal invitation to every single employee in the Everett Public Schools (EPS) to attend the events we have planned Homecoming Weekend on October 24th and 25th.

This year’s lineup, which is listed below, features some exciting new components, as well as two events that for many years made Homecoming one of Everett’s signature annual celebrations.

The first is the Pancake Breakfast, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Everett School Cafeteria, to benefit the Crimson Tide Athletic Department. The second is the Homecoming Hustle 5K Race/Walk, which is held in memory of the late Janet Connolly O’Neill and all the beloved members of the EPS community who have succumbed to cancer. Proceeds will benefit the Massachusetts Women’s Breast and Cervical Care Program at the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) Hospital in Everett.

HERE to sign up for the race. You can try to keep up with the runners, including EHS Principal Dr. Braga, or you can join me as I walk the course — thank you very much!

So, mark your calendars for the weekend of October 24th as the EPS and the City of Everett partner on a Homecoming that builds community and celebrates our past, present, and future.

In the meantime, have an awesome three-day weekend!

William D. Hart
Superintendent
Everett Public Schools
The EPS is on a Roll!
Superintendent William Hart joined the Lafayette School community on Thursday, October 6, 2025, for Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day. Students who came to school on foot, bike, or scooter received stickers and bookmarks and signed a large poster near the main entrance to the building. Above, the Superintendent is pictured with teachers Marissa Fazio Otfinoski and Enriketa Oboni and ELA Instructional Leader Ben Francavilla.
Secretary Snyder Visits Everett High School
Jason Snyder, the Commonwealth’s Secretary of the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security, who visited Everett High School (EHS) on Thursday, October 9, 2025, to interact with our awesome STEM students and teachers and learn about the significant technology improvements the EPS has made under the leadership of Superintendent William D. Hart.

Mr. Snyder said he was drawn to Everett by its reputation as a district and for its commitment to STEM education, pro

gramming, and extracurriculars. He was not disappointed as he visited the Project Lead the Way Engineering Design & Development class taught by Dr. Anna Seiders, Adam Simpson’s AP Physics Class; and (above) Biotechnology II with teacher Dr. Jeffrey Ahern.

In visiting with students, Mr. Snyder talked about the vast opportunities that exist in the world of STEM, stressing that technology fields are ideal for people who “love to solve problems.” The Commissioner applauded the students, specifically crediting them for being “precise” when explaining their course work and projects.

Mr. Snyder toured the school and met with Superintendent William D. Hart, EHS Principal Dr. John Braga, School Committee Chairperson Samantha Hurley, and administrators to discuss the STEM-related topics and initiatives that are especially important to the EPS. Thanks to Mr. Snyder and his team for reaching out and planning the visit to EHS.

What’s Helpful in the PD Realm?
Help the Consortium Find Out!
The BU Wheelock Consortium is a partnership between Boston-area districts, including Everett, and the Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development.

One of the organization’s efforts is to offer local educators professional development opportunities that meet the needs of their classrooms and schools and align with district efforts and priorities. These opportunities would be online for easy accessibility and would draw upon the knowledge and expertise of educators in districts as well as faculty at Boston University. The professional development is available to educators across all the Consortium’s eight districts simultaneously.

To that end, the Consortium is soliciting ideas for what professional development themes would be most helpful for educators. Please complete THIS survey to let the Consortium know what professional development opportunities would be most helpful and relevant to you.
Brandon Conde Day
The City of Everett is asking us to wear red as part of the annual Brandon Conde Day, which is set for Friday, October 24, 2025. The EPS has always been a spirited participant in this event, and we hope this year is no different. Wear red on the 24th and share your photos to Franci DaLuz ([email protected]) so we can share them on our social media channels.

Brandon is a lifelong Everett resident who is a tetraplegic because of injuries he suffered during a horrific accident in July of 2019. He attended the Parlin School, and he graduated from Everett High and Bridgewater State.
