Every Voice, Every Story, Every Day!
Weekly Message from the Superintendent

We went the entirety of 2024-2025 — and the first half of 2025-2026 — without having to call a snow day. In fact, for more than a year canceling school was never a consideration, let alone a reality.

Then came last Sunday, when we had one eye on the Patriots and the other on the falling snow. When the final flake landed — and the Pats had secured their place in Super Bowl LX —  it was an easy call to cancel on Monday and Tuesday.

My thanks to our custodians and facilities and maintenance department, as well as the City of Everett and its  Department of Public Works (DPW) employees, for working in the hours and days after the storm ended. Clearing snow in Everett, with its narrow and tightly-packed streets, is neither easy nor fast. We also know that snowfall of this magnitude makes parking in Everett all the more difficult.

Thanks to the administrators and building leaders who reported to work on Tuesday and helped track our progress and respond to areas of concern. Finally, a big thanks to our teachers and staff for their sky-high attendance rate on Wednesday as we opened our doors after the unscheduled four-day break.

I hope you enjoy a warm and restful weekend. May your shovels and snow boots, like the Patriots, enjoy a weekend off!

William D. Hart
Superintendent
