A Message from the Superintendent
Homecoming Weekend is Here!
After several weeks of planning and collaboration between the Everett Public Schools and the City of Everett, Homecoming Weekend is here! I hope to see as many teachers and staff as possible at this weekend’s festivities. which begin tonight at with family fun and fireworks at Glendale Park and will continue tomorrow morning and afternoon, all leading up to the 1:30 kickoff between the Crimson Tide and Lynn English.

Special congratulations to former longtime Everett High School football coach John DiBiaso Jr., who will see the field inside Veterans Memorial Stadium named in his honor during a special pregame ceremony. In addition to being one of the greatest coaches in the history of the Commonwealth, Coach DiBiaso served for many years as a teacher and athletic director, retiring in 2018 as one of the district’s longest-serving educators; his wife, Maureen, is also a former EPS teacher. Congrats, Coach Dib, on this special, and deserved, honor.
Switching gears, my thanks to Director of Family Engagement Jeanette Velez for helping plan our 2nd Annual Family University. Set for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Everett High School, Family University allows parents and guardians to attend two of a selection of multilingual sessions offered by the EPS and community partners.
Leading our sessions are:
Everett High EL Guidance Counselor Fernanda Andrade — Everett High Basics, which provides parents essential information about graduation requirements and critical support systems for students.
EHS Director of Guidance Kelley Naumann — Get Ready for High School, a tailored session for parents of eighth-grade students. Assistant Director of English Learners (Grades 9-12)
Mehernush Shroff — Is Your English Language Learner ready for High School? During this course, participants will join a discussion on how to prepare students for any phase of high school, with an emphasis on developing a love for literacy. Formerly called Parent University, this event was reimagined and relaunched last year as Family University.
This year, we’ve teamed up with the Cambridge Health Alliance, The Nan Project, MassHire, the City of Everett’s Youth Development and Enrichment Department, the Eliot Family Resource Center, and the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority to develop a comprehensive range of classes.
Thank you and have a great weekend — at Homecoming, I hope!
