gallery on wall
On April 10th, 2025 the EPS Art Department hosted their Annual K-12 Fine & Performing Arts Exhibition. The event showcased K-12 visual art, live performances by our theatre and dance students and hands-on artmaking activities. The community was brought together by “an evening of art.” Families and friends had the opportunity to come together to paint, sculpt in clay, make friendship bracelets, color, collage and choose designs for face-painting. It was a wonderful evening seeing everyone together enjoying art.

STORYBOOK COURT: FULL OF BEANS
By Tracy Wells

The Parlin School’s performance of Storybook Court: Full of Beans by Tracy Wells tells the story of “Jack Beans is on trial for theft, and it’s up to your audience to determine if he’s guilty or innocent!  In this madcap courtroom comedy, Jack and his lawyer Big Bad Wolf go head to head with Mrs. Helga Giant and her lawyer Red Riding Hood on Storybook Court to determine if Jack is guilty of stealing the Giants’ gold, goose, and harp.  With plenty of well-known characters as witnesses and members of the jury, it’s anyone’s guess as to how this trial will end.  The Gingerbread Man could hardly sit still through the trial, and Grouchy was awfully...  well...  grouchy through the whole thing.  But when juror member Sleeping Beauty falls sound asleep, it’s the audience that must vote to determine Jack’s fate!”

NATURE JOURNALING
With Sandy McDermott

The Arts + Sciences paired up for a high school field trip on nature journaling with artist Sandy McDermott. “Sandy is a U.S.-based artist whose work is deeply interlaced with nature. Specializing in field sketching and watercolors, she captures the beauty and complexity of flora and fauna directly from the environment.

journaling 2

For the past four years, she has immersed herself in Alaska’s untamed landscapes, using her field journal and sketching tools to document its unique light, towering summits, vast tundra, and intricate ecosystems. This exploration of Alaska’s awe-inspiring yet imposing wilderness will culminate in her first art book.” Students were introduced to the process of field journaling and drawing through the lens of examining the natural world for its beauty and its science. Students then participated in their own field journaling.
