Every Voice, Every Story, Every Day!
Weekly Message from the Superintendent
The Summer of 2026 is here!
I want to take this opportunity to wish you a safe and enjoyable summer break. May blue skies and sunshine follow you wherever you go between now and the end of August. The summer is yours and deservedly so!
Thanks to your efforts, we continue to make gains in student achievement — from ACCESS testing to MCAS scores to the internal DIBELS data we use to track our students’ progress from September to June. Our attendance rates are up. We are seeing more students reading on grade level. We are launching dual immersion programs at the Parlin and Keverian schools, as well as full-day pre-kindergarten for our youngest students. We are adding two programs (Public Safety and Multi-Media and Broadcasting) to our Chapter 74 CTE Department. We are finalizing a three-year Strategic Plan that I look forward to sharing with teachers and staff later this summer.
Everyone in the EPS has a part in driving us forward. Our teachers, professionals, and staff members are at the heart of everything we do. Every percentage point we gain — on any metric we use — is down to you. And it is my deepest hope that you are motivated to make even greater advances in 2026-2027.
As always, our schools will be anything but empty over the summer. We are running enrichment programs, and our facilities and maintenance team will be hard at work completing and overseeing a variety of projects. Central Administration will remain open throughout the summer, preparing for your return in August!
Have an awesome summer!
William D. Hart

Wear Pink for Yasmine
Thanks to all of the teachers and staff members who wore pink for Parlin School inclusion teacher Yasmine Akib, who underwent cancer surgery in May and returned to work before the school year ended! Thanks to Stacy Schiavo and Janet Colameta for sharing these photos. Ms. Akib was a student — and field hockey player — for Ms. Colameta.
