Every Voice, Every Story, Every Day!
Weekly Message from the Superintendent

The Career and Technical Education Department hosted its spring Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting on Thursday, April 2nd inside the Everett High Cafeteria, joining students, staff, and industry professionals for discussions about how to ensure our CTE programming is current, pertinent, and engaging.

My thanks to everyone who planned the evening’s program, starting with CTE Director Siobhan Araya. Dozens of representatives from the eight Chapter 74 CTE Programs offered at Everett High School attended the PAC meeting to share the expertise, perspective, and guidance.

As is invariably the case during events like this, our students were the stars. Everett High CTE students Katherine Garcia, Alexandra Rodriguez Chacon, Millena Batista, and Joel Corado Escobar helped open the evening by talking briefly but powerfully about what Everett High’s CTE program means to them. They talked about how their teachers and coursework have helped them gain confidence and develop their creativity … how it has made them more comfortable and skilled public speakers … how it has given them clarity and focus … how it has offered them a supportive and collaborative environment ... how it has opened the door to hands-on experiences, certifications, co-ops, and access to relevant technology.

These are not passing comments. These are our students telling us what the EPS means to them — what you mean to them. Nor are their observations isolated. Whether it is through high-quality instruction, coaching and advising, mentorship, or by simply fostering an environment of belonging and safety, you are cultivating our students’ potential and maximizing it.

This is clear in their work, their accomplishments, and their words.

Have a great weekend!

How do you Envision EPS in the Future?
EPS is launching a collaborative strategic planning process that will engage district leaders, educators, families, students, and community members in identifying priorities for the district’s future. The groundwork for a district-wide strategic planning process is aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Planning for Success framework.

The process is an opportunity to include stakeholder engagement, the development of strategic priorities and initiatives informed by district data, and the identification of best strategies. It will also provide an opportunity for Everett stakeholders to explore key priorities through a structured, data-informed approach that reflects the strengths and aspirations of the Everett community.

The goal of this work is to produce a clear and practical three-year strategic plan that will guide district improvement efforts while building strong stakeholder ownership.

Participants will attend three (3) working sessions at Everett High School. Consistent attendance is required. Dinner will be provided.

Session Dates:
Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Thursday, June 4, 2026, 4 to 7 p.m.
Monday, June 22, 2026, 4 to 6 p.m.

If you are interested in being an active part of the strategic planning process, please APPLY HERE.

World Autism Day
As is its annual tradition, the Webster School celebrated Minds of All Kinds and honored the beauty of neurodiversity on World Autism  Day (April 2). The day was about embracing differences, uplifting voices, and recognizing that every mind brings something valuable to our world and to the Webster School. Below are Parlin School teachers and staff who wore blue on April 2nd — another awesome annual tradition to celebrate the day. Thanks to Webster Principal Devon Abruzzese and Parlin teacher Stacy Schiavo for sharing these photographs with us.

Transgender Day of Visibility
Everett High School faculty, administrators, and staff wore pink, light blue, and white on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in recognition of Transgender Day of Visibility. Thanks to the EHS Gender and Sexuality Alliance for coordinating the effort and to Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts Instructor Sean Salazar for setting up the photograph above.

Imitation is the Highest Form of Flattery
In a good-natured and admiring nod to April Fool’s Day, the Keverian School Grade 7 team dressed like ELA teacher Jacob Alcott on Wednesday — replete with jean overalls and red bears. Jeans Day: April 16, in Memory of Stephen Patenaude

A reminder that the Everett Public Schools (EPS) is holding a district-wide Jeans Day in memory of late EPS teacher Mr. Stephen Patenaude on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Proceeds will benefit autism research and education. Autism was a cause close to Stephen’s heart, as he was a strong supporter following his son’s diagnosis. This is a meaningful way to honor his memory while supporting a cause that mattered deeply to him. Please make your $5 contribution to your building’s Administrative Assistant and all final donations should be forwarded to the Lafayette School.
