Every Voice, Every Story, Every Day!
Weekly Message from the Superintendent

The School Committee renewed its monthly School Spotlight series on Monday night — with a twist.

Instead of asking pre-kindergarten students to come to Everett High, Webster Extension Assistant Principal Laurie Stokes and her teachers produced a video from the school’s recent Poetry Party. The footage of the students reciting “Shapes,” “I’m a Little Snowman,” “Will You Be My Valentine,” literally brought smiles to the faces of everyone inside the library.  My thanks to Ms. Stokes, teachers Maureen Fabiano, Crystal Langone, and Lynn Hardy, paraprofessional Jean Dickson, special education ILP teacher Caitlyn Mitchell, special education Inclusion teacher Nick Estabrook, and Everett High School (EHS) TV Studio Director Josh DelGaizo for making and sharing the video with the School Committee and the community.

On Tuesday afternoon, I was back at EHS for the monthly Kiwanis Luncheon in the Crimson Café, where our awesome Culinary Arts students served short ribs over risotto and asparagus. Yes, it was even better than it sounds. No, I never miss a Kiwanis Luncheon with an excellent reason.

In less than 24 hours, I saw the unrestrained joy of our youngest students and I enjoyed the refined skill of our CTE students. It was a quick but powerful examples of how, in our world, the spectrum isn’t A to Z. It’s PreK to 12. We are fortunate to play a part in those beginnings, those conclusions, and the countless things that can happen in between.

Two more things to close:

One, my thanks to the countless administrators, teachers, staff members, and distinguished guests who have/are participating in our Read Across America events. You would be hard-pressed to find an event that brings together more segments of our city than Read Across America. That much is clear from the photos above, taken on Thursday and Friday at the Lafayette and Keverian, respectively, where an amazing collection of educators, elected officials, and community leaders read to students.

Two, great job, as always, by the EPS Music Department for planning, rehearsing, and staging this week’s String Night concerts. It’s no small accomplishment to have a string program that is so expansive that we need to hold separate concerts for different grade levels!

Have a great weekend!

EPS Job Fair a Major Success
Thanks to the Department of Human Resources for planning and hosting the EPS Job Fair on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Everett High School. The fair was busy from beginning to end, as principals and assistant principals from every school in the district, as well as leaders from the Special Education, English Learners, Facilities, and Safety and Security departments, met with people who are interested in working here in Everett.

You Go, Mr. Naumann!
Alex Naumann shows the lengths our principals will go to ensure safe and efficient arrivals and dismissals at our schools — even if that means grabbing a Stop sign and helping cross students outside the Keverian School.
