A Message from the Superintendent
Generosity and Appreciation
Generosity and Appreciation
I have the honor of accepting gifts and donations on behalf of the Everett Public Schools (EPS) on a regular basis, and I take the words “on behalf of” very seriously. The representatives from the civic, business, and charitable organizations that give generously to our students recognize that their efforts support yours.
They know, as you do, that gift cards and winter coats provide meaningful help to families and students, especially at this time of year. They know, as you do, that our students need to feel supported by the community at large. They know, as you do, that so-called “small” contributions can make a big impact.
During the Monday, December 15, 2025, School Committee meeting alone, we will formally acknowledge seven separate donations of winter coats, clothes, gift cards, and books from seven different organizations. Above is a photo we took on Thursday, December 11, 2025, with representatives from the Teamsters Union Local 25, who donated $2,000 worth of Target gift cards, which we will distribute equally among our schools. Additionally, Constellation Energy and the SEIU gave us more than 260 winter coats for our students, and the Eliot Family Resource Center donated clothes from Old Navy so we can establish a Community Closet at the Devens School.
This does not encapsulate the sum total of everything we receive during a school year — not by a very long shot. Nor does it begin to credit the debt of gratitude we owe to the people and organizations that provide scholarship money for Everett High School seniors — a great story for another day.
The above examples, however, clearly illustrate that there are great people in our community that care for us and back us. I will continue to cultivate the relationships we have and search for new ones, knowing, as you do, that our students deserve partners who share our passion and dedication. Have a great weekend!
