A Message from the Superintendent
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Of all the positive things I have the pleasure of doing, drafting a Thanksgiving message to Everett Public Schools (EPS) employees is among the absolute easiest. To borrow a few words from Henry David Thoreau, “my thanksgiving is perpetual.”
That’s thanks to you. Serving as Superintendent of the Everett Public Schools is, indeed, to experience a perpetual feeling of gratitude. From tackling complex challenges and issues with my Central Administration team to casual but invaluable conversations with teachers and staff at EPS events, I am thankful for the collaboration, interactions, events, milestones, and moments I share with you — the teachers and staff of the Everett Public Schools.
Not a day passes that I’m not struck by something that stems directly or indirectly from you: a thoughtful observation, an insightful question, a great idea, a tradition, a performance, a production, a sporting event … The list goes on. And, best of all, your efforts clear the runway for our students to shine.
On Monday night, we saw Keverian School students and Everett High freshman deliver a presentation to the School Committee on civics and community service that was clear, concise, intelligent, and engaging. The following night, we recognized our athletes at the Everett High fall sports banquet; last night, I was in the EHS Auditorium for the Theatre Company’s production of “The Late Bus.” These are student-facing showcases, as they should be, but they wouldn’t be possible without our teachers, staff, and administrators providing support, guidance, and expertise.

As I approach my second anniversary as Superintendent of the EPS, I have come to know and appreciate that working with you ensures that inspiration never dims and motivation never wavers.
I am thankful for what we have accomplished. I am even more thankful for the opportunities that await us.
Have a great weekend and enjoy next week’s Thanksgiving holiday with family, friends, and loved ones.

A Winning Partnership
Thanks to Everett High School’s partnership with MassBioEd, students enjoyed a hands-on experience using a high-tech laboratory method that helps solve crimes. On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Everett High students immersed themselves in the use of gel electrophoresis, a technique used to separate, analyze, and purify DNA. Thanks to Dr. Sandra Luikenhuis for leading the engaging lesson and sharing her expertise with students and faculty. Above (L-R), Dr. Christopher Backlund, Irene Mahoney, and Dr. Jeffrey Ahern enjoy the activities with their students.

A Whale of an Idea

Students in grades 3-5 can crawl inside the model to about the anatomy of these amazing animals.
