A Message from the Superintendent
A Lot to Celebrate!
A Lot to Celebrate!
I have two things to share this week, and they aren’t totally unrelated.
First, today is the final day of National Principals Month, so I want to thank our building leaders for everything they do — every day!
“Multitasking” is far too trite a description for what principals are asked to do during a week, a day, a moment. They must seamlessly shift their attention between teachers and staff, students, families, and fellow administrators, all while ensuring the safe and efficient management of their buildings. They must manage daily responsibilities with longer term district objectives. They must maintain composure and professionalism, no matter what is swirling around them. They must be quick but not hasty.
More than anything, they must create a safe environment in which every teacher can teach to the best of their ability so that every student can reach their potential.
EPS principals possess these traits. We are lucky that our principals are with us at the opening bell and the closing bell — and for every satisfying, frenetic, humorous, and serious moment in between.
Second, a final and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who volunteered and attended last week’s Homecoming festivities. It was awesome to see so many teachers, staff, and administrators, and at our Family Night on Friday at Glendale Park and for Saturday’s festivities on Chelsea Street and inside Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Homecoming, like EHS Graduation, only benefits from the active participation of EPS teachers and employees. The more, the better — always. So, thanks again, to everyone who showed up and pitched in.
In closing, I call your attention to the photo above, which I believe encapsulates what I want to convey about our principals and Homecoming. The picture shows Keverian School Principal Alex Naumann at the finish line of last Saturday’s Homecoming Hustle 5K at Glendale Park, where he announced the winners with ease and style. What’s more, you wouldn’t have known that Mr. Naumann performed the MC role without advanced notice. Circumstances demanded that someone step in and step up so we could appropriately recognize the runners and walkers who paid tribute to the family of Janet Connolly O’Neil and other beloved EPS employees we have lost to cancer.
That kind of adaptability defines our principals, and that type spirit characterizes the Everett Public Schools and the City of Everett.
Have a great weekend, and I hope that the Professional Development Day on Tuesday, November 4th is enjoyable and enriching!

A Red-Letter Day in Everett!
Thanks to the countless teachers and staff who wore red on Friday, October 24th in recognition of Brandon Conde, an Everett High graduate who suffered life-altering injuries during a tragic accident in July of 2019. Brandon was with us for our pre-game family event last Friday night, flipping the switch to start the colorful fireworks display that concluded a night of fun for the whole community.
Peanuts ... Priceless!
Give the Main Office team at the Madeline English School an "A" for creativity for wearing Peanuts-themed costumes on Friday, October 31, 2025: L-R: Assistant Principal Melissa Garfield, Head Teacher Joe Marchesi, Principal Paolo Lambresa, Assistant Principal Joel Levine, and Administrative Assistant Linda Nazzaro. Nice job!

A Punkin Treat
Whittier School Principal Michael McLucas and Assistant Principals Brendan Kent and Cara Fidalgo dressed up as Rock, Paper, and Scissors. Gotta hand it to them …
Pink Day a Big Success
Students, teachers, and staff throughout the EPS wore pink on Wednesday, October 29th to raise awareness for breast cancer research and to remember the late Carol Carone, a beloved volunteer in the EPS. The day was organized by Parlin teachers Madison Murphy and Carol DeMagistris — Carol’s daughter. Pictured above are Lafayette School staff (L-R): Janeka Vilmont, Tammy LaRosa, Maria Boustris, Tricia DiDomenico, and mother and daughter duo Maureen and Melissa O'Donnell. Below are Parlin School teachers and staff.
