Asking Questions
The Value of QCharts
A QChart is a graphic organizer that helps students generate questions about a topic. Teachers can also use the chart to help identify questions to ask students to ensure a range of questions ranging from low order to higher order questions.

How does it work?

Students create questions by using one word from the left-hand column and one word from the top row. The farther down and to the right you go, the more complex and high-level the questions.
Why is it important?
Good readers ask questions as they read. Students can use the chart to generate higher level questions that can prompt deeper understandings of a text or concept.

The EPS in the Community
EPS Well-Represented at Teacher Diversification Workshop
The Everett Public Schools sent a team to a Teacher Diversification Professional Learning Community (TDPLC) workshop hosted by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on Monday, October 21, 2024. The keynote address was delivered by Glenn Singleton and Dr. Ruby Ababio-Fernandez of Courageous Conversations.

Pictured at right are Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning, and Student Success Dr. Margaret Adams, Keverian School Principal Alex Naumann, and Human Resources Director Elaine Monge. They made the trip to Westborough to learn about ways in which the TDPLC can:

  • Design an effective strategy to diversify the teacher workforce that is grounded in a clear vision of "why" a more diverse teacher workforce is connected to equity
  • Develop a talent diversification strategy defined by cultural proficiency and ongoing work across all levels of a school district
  • Utilize a range of qualitative and quantitative data sources, including stakeholder experience data.
  • Implement effective talent practices that allow for ongoing data review, reflection, and refinements.

ALLOW US TO POINT OUT ...
... that the Webster Extension Fall Festival was a major success! The event featured face painting, a petting zoo, games and activities, pizza, and, yes, delicious donuts. Pictured above are teachers Giana Wilson and Erica Curtis. Thanks to all of our teachers and staff members for chipping in at this year’s Fall Festivals.
