Parlin School Students Visit the State House

Outing Hosted by Marcony Almeida Barros

Thanks to Everett School Committee Vice Chairperson Marcony Almeida Barros, the Parlin School Student Council Ambassadors were treated to an extensive tour of the Massachusetts State House on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Mr. Almeida Barros is the Deputy Chief of Staff, Access and Opportunity in the Office of the Governor Maura T. Healey. He extended the invitation to the students and Parlin School Principal Darlene Pugnali following a presentation the Student Council members delivered to the School Committee in April.

All 14 Parlin Ambassadors went on the field trip: Sophia Castro-Orantes, Melanie Moran Cardoza, Iasmin Vega Rodrigues, Giovana Mazzinghi, Beatriz Mazzinghi, Julissa Rodriguez Alfaro, Mariana Prates Ferreira, Angel Perez Escalon, Christopher Leon Membreno, Justin Oli, Gerard Rivas Lopez, Hector Alas Tejada, Axel Campos Vaquerano, and Harrison Adu-Fori.

Mr. Almeida Barros accompanied the students  to the House and Senate chambers, Governor Healey’s Office, and the Press Room, where the students had a fun time standing behind the microphone and answering questions. He talked to the students about government and how the legislative process works — a popular topic for this group of civic-minded students.

The students also spent time with State Senator Sal DiDomenico, and took in the view of the Boston Common and downtown from the State House Portico.

Thanks to Mr. Almeida Barros for planning this expansive and educational visit.
