METG Middle School Drama Festival

Congratulations to the Parlin and Whittier drama clubs for performing — and medalling — in the 2026 Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild’s Middle School Drama Festival, which was held at seven different sites over the first two weekends of May.

The Parlin School Drama Club staged “Straw, Sticks, and Bricks” at the Furnace Brook Middle School in Marshfield on Sunday, May 3. Written by  Arthur M. Jolly and directed by Parlin theater teacher Andrea Dudziak, the one-act play reimagines “The Three Little Pigs,” with the story being told from the told perspective of the straw, sticks, and bricks — all of which aspire to be more.

The Parlin earned a Bronze Medal, while Prinsu Kunwar as Straw, Sophia Da Cruz as Bricks, and Quinn Maloney received acting awards.

The Whittier School traveled to Triton Regional High School in Byfield on Saturday, May 9. The students staged “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” by Don Zolidis and directed by Grade 7 ELA teacher Kristin Coffey. The play centers around two narrators and their attempt to recreate the 209 Brothers Grimm fairy tales  in a wild, fast-paced extravaganza.

Like the Parlin, the Whittier Drama Club came home with a Bronze medal, while Ashley Alvarado Lazo, Anida Mahmutovic, Melissa Vicente Pires, and Drayven Gulla earned acting awards.
