Office of Extended Learning

Meet Our Extended Learning Manager: Heather McCormack, Everett's new Manager of Extended Learning, is deeply passionate about ensuring that all students have access to high quality, empowering, and relevant programs that support their learning and development outside of the traditional school day. She graduated with a BA in Communication and a Certificate in Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies from UMASS Amherst in 2010. In 2011 she moved to Somerville and began working at the Mystic Learning Center, an after school and summer program serving youth and families in the Mystic Housing Development in Somerville. She got her M.Ed in 2015 from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she specialized in Prevention Science. From 2016 to 2021 she worked at the Somerville Media Center as the Youth Media Program Director, teaching media arts classes such as photography, filmmaking, and music production. Most recently she was the Out of School Time Director for Somerville Public Schools, where she oversaw after school, before school, and vacation/summer programming for over 1500 students year round. She is thrilled to work in Everett, the city where she now resides, to expand current OST offerings and develop new innovative programs to serve our diverse student population.
