Introducing the New EHS Principal!

Dr. John Braga, a proven educational leader with extensive experience in urban school districts, has been named Principal of Everett High School (EHS). A former high school principal in Lynn and Fitchburg, Dr. Braga supported the launch of the 2025-2026 school year with Freshman Orientation on August 19, and he is fully prepared to greet all students and staff for the first day of school on August 26.

“I am truly excited to join the Everett Public Schools,” Dr. Braga said. “Everett is a fantastic city, and I look forward to supporting the community as the Principal of Everett High School.

Dr. Braga succeeds Dennis Lynch, who is the new Everett Public Schools (EPS) Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.

“In Dr. Braga, we are welcoming an established and distinguished educator to build on the success EHS has enjoyed in recent years,” said Superintendent William D. Hart. “He brings a wealth of experience in building management, data-driven leadership, and improving the educational experience for all students.”

Dr. Braga speaks Portuguese and Spanish and used to live in Everett and teach adult ESL classes in the city. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Stetson University in Florida, a Master’s of Education from Lesley University, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. From 2007-2014, he taught English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels in the Boston Public Schools (BPS). He then served as a BPS Director of English Language Learner (ELL) Services, Outreach/Sustainability, and Operations (2014-2019). He then moved to the Argenziano School in Somerville, where he served as the Assistant Principal from 2019-2021.

From July 2021 through the end of this past school year, Dr. Braga served as a high school Principal in Lynn and Fitchburg, where he worked with large and diverse student populations, making him a strong fit to assume his current position at Everett High.

“Dr. Braga has hands-on experience with the challenges we are working so hard to address,” said Superintendent Hart. “His strengths lie in improving student outcomes, coaching teachers, expanding vocational and college-bound pathways, boosting attendance, and developing safe, supportive learning environments.”

A passionate advocate for student-centered learning and equity, Dr. Braga has led schools through transformative growth in academics, school safety, and inclusive culture-building. Authentic relationships—with students, staff, and families—and a commitment to high standards for all learners, especially those from historically marginalized communities, are hallmarks of his leadership style.
