The Lafayette and Parlin schools held special celebrations on Tuesday, June 9, for students who earned English Proficient scores on the 2026 ACCESS test, a mandatory annual English language proficiency assessment for English Language Learners in kindergarten through Grade 12. The celebratory breakfasts were hosted by ELL Instructional Coach Meghan Litten at the Lafayette, where record-breaking 96 students attained a proficient score, and ELL Instructional Coach Kimberly Pepper at the Parlin School, which recognized 65 students. Teachers, parents, and families attended the ceremonies in which the students received certificates, medals, and custom buttons and stickers to celebrate their hard work and their achievement of a score high enough to be considered English Proficient by the state of Massachusetts.
