eLearning Center Registration Request Form
The eLearning Centers will be open from 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
What are eLearning Centers?
For families that need support in supervising their students during the school day, virtual learning centers or eLearning centers provide a safe space for students to access eEducation via their Chromebooks. These centers will allow some of our most vulnerable students to access eEducation at locations around the city that will be set up to meet all health and safety requirements. While, again, their instruction will be online, they will be in a setting that allows them the space, internet services, and technical support they may need in order to best access the curriculum. This includes our students who are on IEPs, our newcomers, our children of first responders, and other families that are in need of such support.
Are the eLearning Centers Open to All EPS Students?
We will have limited capacity at eLearning Centers for our most vulnerable students, such as those that do not have access to Wi-Fi at home, have limited English capacity, are the children of essential workers, etc. We will be offering the limited number of spots at our eLearning Centers to our students with the most demonstrated need.
Will there be a limit of the number of students who can attend eLearning Centers on a daily basis
Yes. To maintain social distancing guidelines, we can only accommodate a certain percentage of our students every day.
Can my student(s) go to an eLearning Center at any time or will students be assigned specific times to attend?
Parents/guardians will need to fill out a form to indicate that their child needs to attend an eLearning Center. EPS will take all applications into consideration and prioritize students according to need. Once determinations have been made, EPS will send notifications to families to inform them of their child’s placement in an eLearning Center. eLearning Centers will run during regular school hours from 8 a.m to 2:30 p.m. Students must arrive at the eLearning center at 7:45 a.m. to allow time for safe, socially distanced entry into the building. Building leaders reserve the right to deny entry for any student(s) arriving late.
Parents/Guardians are allowed to pick up their children from an eLearning center prior to 2:30. This must be communicated upon registration. Staff will work to help children exit the classroom and building using safe, social distancing practices at the time noted on the registration. Unless absolutely necessary, parents and guardians will not enter eLearning Centers to pick up their student(s). Staff members will accompany students to an outside area to be picked up.
How many hours can my student(s) attend an eLearning Center on a daily basis?
In order to minimize disruption and transitions, students must attend eLearning Centers on a consistent basis, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 pm. Parents/Guardians must pick up their child at designated pick up spots outside of the building at 2:30 p.m. If parents/guardians are late picking up their child, building leaders reserve the right to remove the student from future eLearning registrations.
Are meals being provided?
Yes. The EPS meals program will be available delivered to students at their desks in the eLearning Centers. For families who do not utilize the eLearning Centers, meals will be available for pick-up every day between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. at our schools.
Will the eLearning Centers be staffed?
Yes, they will be staffed by a combination of school staff, educators, and community partners who have all passed a CORI process.
Will the eLearning Centers be staffed with a nurse?
Will students be grouped by age/grade?
Yes, as much as possible, students will be grouped together by grade level or with students in one grade level above and/or below.
Will specific instruction or academic help be available?
No. The eLearning Centers are safe, quiet places where students can complete their eEducation assignments. No teaching will occur. Staff will be able to help students login to the right accounts to access eEducation, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide basic support
Will there be eLearning Centers in every school?
No. The EPS will establish eLearning Centers at select schools and locations.
Will transportation be provided to and from the eLearning Centers?
Will my student(s) have to bring their own computer, laptop, or Chromebook?
Yes. Students will need to bring their own school-issued Chromebook and charger, or a personal laptop computer. Students should also bring a pair of headphones and/or earbuds if they have them. If they do not have their own, eLearning centers will provide a headset that has been sanitized.
Will the eLearning Centers have Wifi?
Yes. Students will be able to access eEducation digital and web-based platforms.
Do the EPS guidelines on face coverings and social distancing apply to the eLearning Centers?
Yes. All students and staff will be required to wear face-coverings and six feet of social distancing will be maintained at all times. Students must bring their own face mask to eLearning centers.
