Culinary Competition for 11th Graders
Big Flavors, High Standards!
The Whitsons Culinary Group and the Everett High School Culinary Arts Department recently partnered on a fun and challenging competition for 11th graders. The culinary students were tasked with creating a “School Lunch” meal that adheres to USDA requirements for the National School Lunch Program — not to mention one that is delicious! Congratulations to Mariela Chacon, Gregory Barros, and Rodrigo Escobar for creating the winning dish, Carne Guisada with Rice and Pico de Gallo. On May 4th, the students took an in-school field trip to the EHS kitchen to prepare the meal with Whitsons Chef Raymon Lebron. The Carne Guisada was served as the World Market daily lunch special.
