Students at the Extended School Year (ESY) Program enjoyed many fun activities this summer at the Madeline English School while working on maintaining their skills they learned in the classroom during the school year.
Some of their favorite activities included a visit from the Everett Fire Fighters with their fire truck and hose, as well as a visit from the Everett Police Department with their SWAT truck, all-terrain vehicle, and police truck. Students were able to check out all of the vehicles and even climb on board. This was part of a weeklong learning experience about community helpers.
Students celebrated the end of the program with the Special Olympics Field Day games. They participated in various throwing skill stations, obstacle courses, and running races. They each received a medal that was given to them by representatives from the Everett Police Department. Volunteers from Finish Line helped run stations during the event.
We would like to thank everyone who helped make the ESY program a great experience for students, including administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals! A special thank you to Everett Police and Fire Departments for volunteering their time and resources with us!
