Everett Public Schools Suggested Summer Reading – Entering Grades 5 &6

Build a Better World

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Everett Public Schools invite you to help “Build a Better World” by taking time to read and relax with a good book. Summer reading is a key to your child’s continued academic success by improving vocabulary, developing comprehension skills, and maintaining new skills developed during the past school year.

The school librarians have provided a list of suggested authors and topics that may be of interest to your child. These can be found at the Everett Public Libraries-the Parlin or Shute. Feel free to look for these or at the many items available at the public library. The librarians at the public library can offer many suggestions that may be of interest to your child.  While you are at the public library your child can use the Build a Better World Reading Log provided by the Everett Public Libraries to keep track of what books he/she is reading this summer. The public library will be offering many fun and exciting events that support learning during the summer months.

At the beginning of the school year we will continue to Build a Better World through many reading and learning activities at your child’s school. Enjoy and happy reading!
